Meet the Doulas at NMC
Jocelyn Logan, Birth Doula, La Leche League Leader & HypnoBirthing Instructor.
As a doula, I am obstetrician and midwife friendly, love nurses and work as a team with your partner and your care providers. I am here for you, to ensure your birth experience remains positive. So many times I have heard, "If I only knew about that, maybe things would have been different." You will tell your birth story for the rest of your life - it is my goal to empower you with knowledge to ensure the story you tell is not filled with regrets.
I have many clients who are happy to provide references regarding the care and services I provide, so please contact me and I will be happy to provide you with their contact details.

Client Comments about Doula care:
“When I became pregnant with our second child, I insisted on having both a midwife and a doula. Many people wondered why I wanted both and wouldn’t just one or the other be okay. I am a big researcher and one point that kept coming up consistently in my research explained that the midwife can concentrate on the baby and the doula can continue to concentrate her efforts on the mother and the father. Having two knowledgeable like-minded people attend my birth was what I wanted and having them working together as a team was incredibly calming for both my husband and myself and the baby during the entire process. A midwife and a doula bring different but compatible strengths to the entire experience. It was like having a family or a team of knowledgeable people surrounding us. So, 16 hours of drug free back labour hours later our daughter (Violet) was born in the hospital and 4 hours after that I went home. The experience was phenomenal and I would do it again in a heartbeat. So, if you can have both a doula and a midwife…go for it, you will never regret it!” M.V.
Erin Hunter, Birth Doula & Hypnobirthing Instructor.
Many women decide to work in birth support as a result of their own experiences in birth. This is certainly true for me. I am a mother of four sweet blessings, and each of their births was very different, and taught me so much!
I first learned about what a birth doula is several years before I became a mother. I enjoyed reading books about pregnancy and childbirth, even in my youth. I guess I always knew that I wanted to be a mother some day, and I found the whole subject of childbirth very interesting. It was through this reading that I first learned about "doulas," which was a foreign term to me at the time. The idea of what a birth doula does really intrigued me, but it was a long time before I considered that I could do something like it.
After my second daughter was born, I soon realized that I felt passionate about helping other women to have inspiring and empowering birth experiences. Having someone there just for the labouring woman makes so much difference! Especially if it is someone who has given birth before and can be there during labour and birth in ways that the medical staff often cannot--for her mind's reassurance and encouragement.
